Stretching Art and Tradition 16: XOX... Dreams of X-cstacy

Artist: Julie Brandon, Williamson, NY

My inspiration was a love poem, Sonnet 132, by Francesco Petrarca. He was an Italian scholar and poet in the Renaissance. The sonnet is part of a series of poems he wrote about his unrequited love for a girl named Laura. Imagery digitally printed on cotton sateen, machine quilted and highlighted with textile paint and bead embellishment.
