“She Wears Many Hats” is a figurative representation of me at this point in my life. I often feel like I am juggling flaming balls while dodging bullets! I am a daughter, sister and Aunt. I am an engineer and an artist, an entrepreneur and an employee, a lover of animals and gardening, a quilter, sculptor, fabric-dyer, and herder of cats. Everything in this piece represents something in my life or personality.
“She Wears Many Hats” is a soft-sculptured cloth doll on a wire and brass armature. She is made out of my hand-dyed cotton doll-skin and clothed in my hand-dyed fabrics. She carries a phone reminiscent of my cell phone in her left pocket. Her 3 hats are a beret made from my hand-dyed velvet, a vintage newsboy hat, and a silk top hat. Her jump rope is made on a wire base and has hand-made and vintage paper beads and charms.
