“Foundations of Liberation". The designs in this quilt are loosely interpreted by the views of crops and fields from a plane window. When you're flying in a plane looking down, designs emerge that you would never see from the ground. The change in perspective allows you to see things that were previously invisible. Similarly in society, things like racism, sexism, ageism, or homophobia are invisible unless you have the perspective of someone who experiences these things. This change in perspective is in a way, liberating. The designs in this quilt are also inspired by Gwen Marston's "Liberated Quiltmaking", Jean Wells, and the Gee's Bend quilts.
